Performing as a Pianist in Leicestershire.
My name is Eugene Portman and a major part of my work is as a pianist in Leicestershire’s many and varied venues. The area provides me with a large number of functions from weddings to corporate events and private parties. Most of my work, however, is as a wedding pianist, and Leicestershire provides me with a constant stream of this type of work.
The Music
As a pianist I specialise in jazz and this genre of music has many fans in the Leicestershire region. I play all the songs that were made popular by singers such as Tony Bennet, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald. Furthermore, my piano style has developed through listening to the great jazz pianists of the past. These include Erroll Garner, Oscar Peterson, George Shearing, and Teddy Wilson.
In order to play the piano for the many weddings that Leicestershire has to offer, I have to be versatile and play many styles of music. This means that I have to cover many genres including pop, rock, classical, Latin, ragtime, and singalong.
Working as a Sing-along Pianist in Leicestershire
There has recently been a surge of interest in the Leicestershire area to book me as a singalong pianist for Cockney themed events. In order to make these evenings a success, I provide all the song sheets and dress in typical Cockney attire. This consists of Bowler hat, red neckerchief, grandad shirt, waistcoat, pocket watch, etc. All that you have to do is provide some enthusiastic singers who are not frightened of letting go of their inhibitions.

Most of my work in Leicestershire is for me as a solo pianist and also for duo combinations. .However, I can provide any line-up from duos right up to a five-piece jazz band.
